Things To Do In Southern
California
For those who want to plan a
vacation in Southern California in addition to the convention, the hotel
has extended their special reduced room rate from April 28 through May 7th (with checkout on
May 8th). Remember the actual conventions dates are May 2 - 4
(Friday to Sunday), with early registration the evening of Thursday, May 1.
Here's a listing of many of the
famous tourist attractions in Southern California. I've concentrated
on Los Angeles County, but I've also mentioned some famous locations in
Orange County.
RENTAL CARS:
The Airtel Hotel has a rent-a-car agency right in the hotel:
Enterprise Leasing (gotta love the name!) You can find a link to their
website on the Airtel website (http://airtelplaza.com/).
I highly recommend reserving your car in advance.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:
Public Transportation in Los
Angeles generally is not for the faint of heart. With a few exceptions, it’s
very time-consuming and sometimes it's difficult to get connections to
wherever you want to go.
That said, it is possible to
get around town with some careful planning.
Here's the website for the
Metropolitan Transit Authority. Note - this isn't a direct link.
Cut-and-paste it into your browser:

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Right now, I'm just including a
list of some of the area's more famous attractions. If you want
further information, most of these places will have dedicated websites.
I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
